We have a new book in the library, recommended by Linda Nakell, Ph.D. It's Motivational Practice : Promoting Healthy Habits and Self-care of Chronic Diseases (2004) by Dr. Rick Botelho. Dr Botelho is a Professor of Family Medicine and Nursing at the University of Rochester in New York and a family physician.
An editorial review at http://www.amazon.com/ says:
"Reduce your frustrations in working with so-called resistant patients. To help your patients develop healthier habits and enhance their self-care of chronic diseases, discover how to change from a health adviser (giving information) to a motivational guide before enhancing your motivational skills. Embark on a journey of lifelong learning."
A book cover review by Dr I. R. McWhinney, a doctor and noted family medicine textbook author, credits Dr Botelho with "teaching us a new therapy of the word".
